About the Writer/Director
JAVIER LOARTE received a B.A. in Psychology from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and worked at a rehabilitation center prior to making the jump into filmmaking. Since then, his films have screened in more than 100 film festivals (Telluride, Montreal, Cleveland) and in contemporary art museums (Pompidou Centre in Paris and in Vienna), and have received over 25 awards. After participating in the Berlinale Talent Campus, Loarte was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study at Columbia University, where he will graduate with his M.F.A. in Film in 2015. He recently completed the script Before Elvis There Was Nothing, which he intends to make his debut feature film.
About the Producer
VALERIE MARTINEZ (Co-Producer) is pursuing her M.F.A. in Creative Producing at Columbia University. She served in the U.S. Air Force as a systems analyst, completed her M.B.A. and worked in the financial industry prior to crossing over to film. She has written, directed and produced several short films in the U.S. and the Philippines. Marinez was an intern for Tribeca Film Institute for the Alfred Sloan Foundation Fund and Greenbox Films for the Marketing and Distribution department.
