About the Writer/Director

Nadia Zoe is a New York-based filmmaker. Originally from the southwest, she developed a love for character-driven films while studying acting before making the move to directing. During her years at Columbia University she has had the pleasure to create and collaborate on many films, including an Alfred P. Sloan Production Grant winner. Her work has been featured in the teleplay competition at the Austin Film Festival and the Chicago Latino Film Festival.

About the Producer

Ursula Ellis is a filmmaker based in New York. While primarily a writer/director, she is thrilled to serve as producer on Why I Run. She has produced several other shorts, including Touch (dir. A. Stephen Lee), which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and went on to screen at several other festivals including Clermont-Ferrand. Her own thesis film, Crick in the Holler, received an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Production Grant.
