On the rocky expanse of Joshua Tree National Park, Omid and his family continue their tradition of jumping over fire in honor of the Iranian holiday, Chahar Shanbeh Soori. As daylight slips away and the sun recedes into the desert, an exposed Omid must face the reality of his wife’s impending death.

About the Writer/Director
Sara Boutorabi is an Iranian-American filmmaker whose work explores identity, family, and cultural memory. Her previous short won the Grand Jury Prize for Narrative Short at Slamdance, and she is a recipient of the Marcie Bloom Fellowship. She is the writer and director of Day of Fire.
About the Producer
Aleksandra Mania is a Polish filmmaker based in New York and a graduate of Columbia University’s MFA in Creative Producing. She is the producer of Day of Fire, recipient of the Katharina Otto-Bernstein Award, and co-produced the feature film Sheepwell. Her work focuses on character-driven stories exploring identity, family, and emotional complexity.
