About the Writer/Director
Hector Prats (Barcelona, 1992) is a film director and screenwriter born in Barcelona, Spain, and based in New York City. During his time in college, Hector worked as a film critic, attended film festivals as youth jury and collaborated with several independent film productions. His early work directing music videos for artists like Roosevelt and Viva Suecia paved his transition into narrative filmmaking. He is currently represented by the production company and creative agency Iconoclast.
With the support of the La Caixa Fellowship, Hector earned his MFA in Film Directing at Columbia University, where he now teaches undergraduate film directing classes.
His work has screened at Seattle International Film Festival, Palm Springs ShortFest, New Orleans, Atlanta, BogoShorts, HollyShorts and other programs, and has been awarded funding by Indian Paintbrush. In 2022, he received the Vimeo Staff Pick distinction for his short film Enloquecer. Hector is currently developing his first feature A Time to Dance.
