About the Writer/Director (Film)
Alek Abate is a filmmaker originally from Jacksonville, Florida and currently based in Brooklyn. He graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Philosophy from Dartmouth College in 2017, and is presently pursuing an MFA in Screenwriting and Directing at Columbia University. Prior to Columbia, he worked as a middle school English teacher, community organizer, legal policy analyst, and vegan activist.
About the Producer
Fayza Shammin is a producer from Oberlin, Ohio. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Film & Media Culture and B.A. in Psychology from Middlebury College. Since moving to New York to pursue her MFA in Creative Producing, Fayza has interned at Company 3 and served as the Creative Producing Master Fellow for Columbia’s graduate film program.
About the Writer (novel)
David Sanchez is a writer from Tampa, Florida. He has been awarded a PEN America Writing for Justice Fellowship, a James A. Michener Creative Writing Fellowship at the University of Miami, and a 2018 Tin House Scholarship. His debut novel, All Day Is a Long Time, was released by HarperCollins in 2022 and later nominated for the Young Lions Fiction Award.
